Plain-English summary
The Designers Edge, of Bellevue, Wash., is recalling about 180 fluorescent worklights, model number L-2001. The recalled products are twin head, green telescoping worklights with manufacturing dates from May 2000 and before. The model number is located on a white sticker on the crossbar below the floodlight heads.
The recall was issued because the worklight's power cord has loose connections, which could result in live wires being exposed. This poses electrocution and shock hazards to consumers. Additionally, the firm mislabeled the worklight; the product improperly bears the UL mark and is marked "suitable for wet locations." No injuries have been reported.
These worklights were sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and through Northern Tool magazine from April 2000 through May 2000 for about $150. Consumers should immediately stop using these worklights and return them to the store where purchased for a free replacement. If the light was purchased by mail order, consumers should contact the firm to receive a free replacement. Known purchasers were notified about this recall.
