Gerry Deluxe Baby Monitors Recalled for Fire and Burn Risk

The recall includes monitors with date codes ranging from "8806" (June 1988) through "9005" (May 1990). These units were sold nationwide in juvenile product and baby supply stores and department stores between June 1988 and May 1990.

Gerry is aware of one fire without injuries involving a Model 602 monitor with this specific manufacturing error. CPSC has also received reports alleging involvement in two other fires, including one with a fatality and an injury, as well as 13 incidents of monitors getting warm to the touch, including one skin burn. However, Gerry stated that only one report of these 16 claims was conclusively determined to be caused by the Model 602 monitor. Consumers should not place any monitor in the crib, among blankets or bedding, or in any position that interferes with ventilation.
