Plain-English summary

Shindaiwa Inc. is recalling approximately 18,500 model EB-45 backpack blowers and 4,970 model 300S chain saws in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall was announced on March 27, 1996.

The fuel tanks on these tools could leak, presenting a possible chemical burn or fire hazard. Shindaiwa is not aware of any injuries involving these products. The red backpack blowers feature a black metal backpack frame and a white fuel tank, while the red chain saws have a gray guide bar.

Authorized Shindaiwa dealers nationwide sold these tools from April 1992 to June 1995. The backpack blowers sold for approximately $430 each, and the chain saws for approximately $300 each. Consumers who own the recalled products should stop using them immediately and return them to any authorized Shindaiwa servicing dealer to have a redesigned fuel tank fitted at no charge.
