These fans were distributed nationwide by DeLonghi America from 1990 to 1991, with a total of 3,360 units sold. The suggested retail prices for these fans were $40.00 and $60.00.

The recall is due to a safety hazard where the fan blades may fracture while in use, potentially striking someone nearby. Additionally, the grill-retaining clips sold with the fans may not hold the fan grills together securely. While DeLonghi has not received reports of fractured blades from these specific units, there have been 47 instances involving fan blade parts escaping from the grills of similar fans sold by another distributor.

Owners of affected fans should discontinue use immediately until the modifications are completed. To receive free modification kits, which include replacement fan clips, blades, and installation instructions, owners should call DeLonghi toll-free at 1-800-322-3848. To determine if a fan is affected, check the stamped date-of-manufacture code on the product label on the bottom of the fan base; the first two digits represent the month and the next two represent the year. Fans made after January 1991 are not involved.
