Plain-English summary
Jak Pak, Inc. is voluntarily recalling 6,939 Rain or Shine Dolls, model JP #0137, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The dolls are plastic, stand 6-1/4 inches tall, and feature brown rooted hair, painted facial features, and movable arms, legs, and head. They include a removable plastic raincoat, shoes, socks, and non-removable underwear.
The recall was initiated after CPSC testing revealed that the dolls' movable arms could separate. These detached arms are small parts that pose a potential choking hazard for young children. The potentially hazardous dolls were identified at the Port of Milwaukee, WI, during a joint CPSC/U.S. Customs surveillance program. Neither the CPSC nor the company is aware of any injuries involving the dolls.
The dolls were sold nationwide at various retail outlets from January 1990 through December 1991 for an estimated price of $2.00 to $3.00 each. Consumers are urged to take the dolls away from young children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund. For more information, consumers may contact Jak Pak, Inc. at 1-800-526-0113.
