The Sail Harbor of Freehold, NJ, is voluntarily recalling 2,000 units of its "Wind-Up Row n Row Boat" toys, style number 172, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall was announced on December 19, 1991.
The toys may break during use, producing small parts with sharp points. These parts could cause fatal choking or puncture wounds to young children. The plastic water toys are 5-1/2 inches long and 3-1/2 inches wide and feature either an alligator or a hippopotamus seated in the center. The hippopotamus version has a green body, soft rubber head, yellow oars, red deck, white bottom, and blue wind-up key. The alligator version has a yellow body, green soft rubber head, beige oars, blue deck, white bottom, and red wind-up key. Both versions have stick-on decals resembling blue water.
These toys were sold nationwide beginning in January 1991 for approximately $3.00 each. Neither the CPSC nor the company is aware of any injuries involving this product. The recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. Consumers are urged to take these toys away from young children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a refund of the purchase price.
