Plain-English summary
Target Stores is voluntarily recalling approximately 1,300 units of the "Press'n Roll Boat" pre-school toy in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall was issued on February 2, 1989, because the smokestack of the toy boat can break off, posing a choking hazard to young children.
The recalled toys are model #2311, described as white, red, and blue plastic fire boats with a fireman pilot. They were sold in Target Stores nationwide last fall for $4.99 each. The potentially hazardous toys were identified by the U.S. Customs Service at the Port of Los Angeles during "Operation Toyland," a joint surveillance program with the CPSC.
Neither the CPSC nor Target Stores is aware of any injuries associated with the toy. Consumers should take the toy boat away from young children immediately and return it to the nearest Target Store for a refund of the full purchase price.
