Plain-English summary
Luv N' Care, Inc. is voluntarily recalling approximately 16,000 Luv N' Care Orthodontic Pacifiers, Item #G-15. The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The pacifiers are made of plastic with the word "TIDY" embossed on the outside of the shield and come in solid pastel colors of blue, pink, yellow, and white.
The recall is necessary because the nipples may separate during use, creating a fatal choking hazard to young children. The product has been found to fail the protrusion test and the nipple integrity test set forth by the CPSC's pacifier requirements. The pacifiers were sold nationwide beginning in October 1989. Retailers were notified by the firm in October 1990 to stop sale of these pacifiers.
Consumers are urged to take these pacifiers away from young children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a refund of the purchase price. Consumers with questions may contact Luv N' Care at (318) 388-4916 or write to 2813 DeSiard Street, Monroe, LA 71201. The CPSC is aware of three consumer complaints with no injuries regarding these pacifiers.
