The affected units include model numbers EVX-150, EVX-156, EVX-180, EVX-184, EVX-1500, and EVX-1800. These speakers contain uninsulated lead wires and overly long terminal lugs that may ignite the carbon fiber/paper composite speaker cone during maximum excursion.

Approximately 65 speakers remain unaccounted for as of June 28, 1988. These units were sold mainly in New York City and northern California, with the majority reportedly taken out of the United States by customers.

Consumers should immediately return EVX loudspeakers purchased before March 1, 1988, to their place of purchase. Customers returning models EVX-150, EVX-156, and EVX-180 will receive a newly manufactured unit with safety modifications. Credit will be issued for models EVX-1500, EVX-1800, and EVX-184. Speakers purchased after March 1, 1988, have improved performance characteristics and full safety modifications.
