Linn Inc. is recalling approximately 2,157 units of Linn Power Amplifiers and Linn Melodik Bass Extension Loudspeaker Systems. The affected products include the Linn AV5105 2-Channel Power Amplifier, the Linn LK240 Single-Channel Power Amplifier, and the Linn AV5150 Melodik Bass Extension Loudspeaker System. The AV5105 and LK240 models are recalled in all serial numbers, while the AV5150 model is recalled for serial numbers 1001 through 714451. These products were sold at specialty retail stores in the U.S. and Canada from May 1996 through December 2003.

The recall is due to a fire hazard. The amplifiers' capacitors can overheat, blow a fuse, and damage the products to which they are connected. Among 70 reported incidents, there were two reports of heat damage to the cover of connected speakers. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should stop using the recalled amplifiers immediately. To obtain a free repair, consumers should contact Linn Inc. at (800) 595-6770. Model and serial numbers are located on the front panel, printed on the bottom of the product, or on the control panel near the main power supply.
