Plain-English summary
Playspaces International and U.S. Toy Company Inc. are conducting a voluntary limited recall of the yellow plastic hat from the driver of the Ambi Mini Racer toy car, Model E666. The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The hat is a small part that could present a choking hazard to children younger than three years old.
Since January 1984, Playspaces International distributed approximately 6,800 of the mini racers nationwide. During the same period, U.S. Toy Company distributed 905 units, sold only through their catalog or in their own retail outlets in California, Illinois, Kansas, and Texas. The toy cars sell for approximately $12.00 at retail.
The CPSC is not aware of any reports of deaths or injuries involving this toy. Consumers should immediately remove the hat from the Ambi Mini Racer and return it to the retail store where it was purchased to receive a $1.00 premium. For more information, consumers can contact Playspaces International at 617-443-7146, U.S. Toy Company Inc. at 816-761-5900, or the CPSC toll-free hotline at 800-638-CPSC.
