What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (crib) with a potential for suffocation, but the source explicitly states that no injuries have been reported, fitting the High severity criteria for theoretical hazards without reported illness or injury.
Plain-English summary
Puck Children's Furniture, Inc. is voluntarily repairing its Omar Crib in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall addresses a head and neck entrapment hazard that could result in suffocation, as well as a foot entrapment hazard. The hazard occurs when the adjustable end panels are in their lowest position, creating a V-shaped opening where a child's head and neck could be caught. Additionally, a gap can form between the side rail and mattress support when specific height adjustments are made, posing a foot entrapment risk.
Since October 1983, a total of 1,137 Omar Model cribs have been distributed nationwide. The cribs are available in natural and white finishes, feature adjustable side rails and end panels, and include wheels and a storage drawer. The product is packaged in a carton labeled "Made in Italy - Puck Children's Furniture - Omar." Neither the CPSC nor the manufacturer is aware of any reported injuries involving this crib.
Consumers who purchased an Omar Crib should immediately contact the retail store where it was purchased or Puck Children's Furniture at 305-634-2828 to obtain a free repair kit. The kit includes a replacement stabilizer, wooden plugs, and instructions. Until the crib is repaired, consumers are advised to discontinue use or use the crib only with the end panels in their highest position and the mattress support and side rails adjusted so there is no gap at the bottoms of the side rails.
