Plain-English summary
Questor Juvenile Furniture Company is voluntarily recalling plastic "crib-spring hanger brackets" used on approximately 34,500 full-sized Babyline cribs. The recall was announced in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on August 9, 1979.
The plastic brackets, which are mounted on the four corner posts of the cribs to suspend the springs, have broken in six reported instances. This breakage caused the mattress and springs to drop slightly, resulting in minor injuries to two infants. The recall affects 29 models of Babyline cribs with date codes 677, 777, 877, 977, 1077, 1277, and 178, corresponding to production dates from June 1977 through January 1978. The date code is located on a label on the inside bottom of the crib headboard.
Owners of affected cribs should write to Baby Line Furniture at 6235 South Saint Andrews Place, Los Angeles, California, 90047, Attention: Corrective Program, to obtain a free replacement kit containing metal hanger brackets and installation instructions. Consumers may verify model numbers and assembly dates by contacting the CPSC toll-free hotline at 800/638-2772.
