The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Crosman Arms have announced a repair program for certain single-shot, pump-up pellet pistols. Approximately 35,000 Model 1377 "American Classic" and Model 1322 "Medalist" pistols are affected. These models were distributed during 1977 and through January 1978.

The recall is due to inadequately tightened screws that may cause the grip frame to loosen after repetitive use. If the frame loosens, the pistol may become inoperative, discharge with the safety on, or discharge without the trigger being pulled. Models produced after January 1978 do not contain this defect and are identified by an "R" stamped on the pistol and its carton.

Owners should not use these pistols until they are examined by a Crosman representative. Crosman advises owners to take the pistols to any authorized service center for a free examination and repair.
