The affected units can be identified by the "Poseidon" brand name embossed on the purge button and the "Cyklon 300" model name, with serial numbers ranging from 15024 through 16523 and 18050 through 18549 located on the first stage of the regulator.
The recall is due to a defect in the intermediate air hose material, which may cause the hose to become disconnected from its fitting. If this disconnection occurs while the unit is submerged, air flow to the diver would be cut off. Parkway Fabricators is aware of approximately 20 instances where the hose became disconnected, but no injuries have resulted to divers from this problem.
Consumers are warned to immediately stop using these regulators. To obtain a free replacement hose, consumers should write to Parkway Fabricators at # 1 Raritan Street, South Amboy, N.J., attn: Cyklon 300 Recall, providing their name, address, telephone number, and the regulator's serial number. A replacement hose and installation instructions will be mailed to each owner. Parkway Fabricators has also sent direct notifications to approximately 80% of purchasers who filed warranty cards and is notifying dealers nationwide to warn customers not to use the regulators until replacements are provided.
