These garments were sold during the late summer and fall of 1974 in the Boston, Massachusetts area, retailing for $14 to $16.
The garments are being recalled because they do not comply with the Standard for the Flammability of Clothing Textiles (CS 191-53) and may be dangerously flammable. The CPSC announced this action on May 19, 1976.
Consumers who purchased these items are advised to return them to the store where they were bought. The stores will post signs, include warnings in monthly billing statements, and run newspaper advertisements to notify customers. Under the consent agreement, the company will either replace the non-complying garments with compliant ones or refund the purchase price.
