The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has provisionally accepted a consent agreement with May Department Stores Company to recall specific cotton sportswear tops. The affected garments are G. Fox cotton pullovers distributed by Michael Miles/Peter Sinclair in styles MP 408, MP 409, MP 410, MP 425, MP 426, and MP 454. These adult unisex shirts were sold during the late summer and fall of 1974 for $14 to $16.
The recall is being issued because the garments do not comply with the Standard for the Flammability of Clothing Textiles (CS 191-53) and may be dangerously flammable. The G. Fox stores that carried these tops are located in the Hartford, Connecticut area.
Consumers who purchased these garments should return them to the G. Fox store where they were bought. Under the consent agreement, the company will post signs in stores, include warnings in monthly billing statements, and run newspaper advertisements to notify customers. The company will either replace the non-complying garments with compliant ones or refund the purchase price.
