The affected garments are adult unisex cotton pullovers distributed by Michael Miles/Peter Sinclair in styles MP 408, MP 409, MP 410, MP 425, MP 426, and MP 454. These items were sold during the late summer and fall of 1974 at Garb-Age retail locations in Iowa and Kansas.

The recall is necessary because the garments do not comply with the Standard for the Flammability of Clothing Textiles (CS 191-53) and may be dangerously flammable. The CPSC notes that the agreement is for settlement purposes only and does not constitute an admission of law violation by the company.

Consumers who purchased these tops at Garb-Age stores in Iowa City, Des Moines, Davenport, or Cedar Rapids, Iowa, or Overland Park or Lawrence, Kansas, should return them to the store of purchase. Garb-Age will offer to replace the non-complying garments with compliant ones or refund the purchase price. The company is posting signs in stores, including warnings in billing statements, and running newspaper advertisements to notify customers.
