Sangohe adult portable bed rails pose entrapment and asphyxiation hazard

Sangohe adult portable bed rails models 504E and 504Q are being recalled because users can become entrapped within the rail or between the rail and the mattress.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported: the rails fail a mandatory entrapment standard, and the source states no injuries or incidents have been reported.

Plain-English summary

This recall involves Sangohe-branded adult portable bed rails models 504E and 504Q, made by Zhongshan KDB Health Solutions Co., Ltd. of China. Model 504E is black, 23 inches wide by 35 inches tall and weighs nine pounds; model 504Q is black, 28.5 inches wide by 43.3 inches tall and weighs nine pounds. The model number appears on the packaging, the product label and the first page of the instruction manual. About 36,500 units were sold online at Amazon.com from August 2023 through February 2026 for about $90 and $110. Sangohe previously recalled about 26,200 adult portable bed rails in January 2026.

The recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed rails because users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress, posing a serious entrapment hazard and risk of death by asphyxiation. The rails also do not bear the required warning labels. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bed rails and contact Sangohe for a full refund.

Consumers should destroy the rails by cutting the handrail foam padding, write "RECALLED" on the upper and lower rails, and email a photo to [email protected].
