Chervon North America is recalling approximately 63,000 SKIL 40V 5.0Ah Lithium-Ion Batteries (model BY8708-00), manufactured before May 1, 2021. The batteries were sold individually and in combination kits with SKIL 40V lawn mowers through Lowe's, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and Lowes.com from October 2019 through December 2024.
The batteries can overheat, creating a fire and burn hazard. Chervon has received 100 reports of thermal incidents involving the batteries, including overheating, melting, smoking, and fires. These incidents included 8 reports of minor burns and/or smoke inhalation and 49 reports of property damage.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled batteries. Chervon is offering a free replacement or refund.
