Baby Crib Bumpers Recalled for Suffocation Hazard and Federal Ban Violation

About 125 padded baby crib bumpers sold online from November 2022 through January 2023 are recalled due to suffocation risk. Infants can suffocate if they roll into the bumper and obstruct their breathing; padded crib bumpers are banned under federal law.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a high-risk hazard—suffocation of infants—where the product violates a federal ban on padded crib bumpers. No illnesses or injuries have been reported, but the risk of serious harm to vulnerable infants is inherent in the product's design defect.

Plain-English summary

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling approximately 125 baby crib bumpers distributed by Meiling Hou of China. The recalled products are NO1 and NO2 model padded cotton bumpers measuring 79 inches long by 12 inches tall, sold in clear zip bags. NO1 bumpers are white and gray with a cloud pattern; NO2 bumpers are white.

The bumpers were sold online at Aliexpress.com and Temu.com from November 2022 through January 2023 for approximately $26 each.

The hazard is that infants can suffocate if they roll or move on the crib bumper in a position that obstructs their breathing. Padded crib bumpers are banned under federal law.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled crib bumpers. To obtain a full refund, consumers should contact Meiling Hou by email at [email protected]. Consumers will be asked to cut the tie strings of the crib bumper and send a photo of the destroyed product to the same email address.
