Highest-severity recall. Risk of serious injury or death is documented or strongly suspected. Stop using the product now and follow the agency's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: The source text explicitly states that swallowed magnets can result in "death." Although no injuries have been reported to date, the hazard profile and stated consequences meet the Critical threshold.
Plain-English summary
Boxine US Inc. is recalling tonies Blocks, wooden toy blocks containing high-powered magnets inside. The hazard is that when two or more high-powered magnets are swallowed—either intentionally by younger children or accidentally by older children—the magnets can attract to each other or to another metal object and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning, and death. Boxine has received one report of a magnet detaching from the product, but no injuries have been reported.
