Miffy First LED Lights Recalled for Overheat Burn Hazard

About 1,400 Miffy First LED Lights can overheat during use, posing a burn hazard. No injuries have been reported. Consumers should stop using the lights and contact the company for a free module replacement.

What this means for you

Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Our severity reasoning: The source explicitly states no injuries or illnesses have been reported. Although the hazard (overheat/burn) is not theoretical, the absence of any harm reported and the precautionary nature of the remedy place this at Moderate severity per the rubric.

Plain-English summary

Mr. Maria is recalling approximately 1,400 Miffy First LED Lights because the lights can overheat during use, creating a burn hazard. The recalled lights are about 12 inches tall, made of silicone, and shaped like a white rabbit. They feature an LED light with a step dimmer and USB charger. Models Mr LED 11 or Mr. LED 11A with a blue color label on the bottom and produced in 2017 or 2018 are included in this recall.

The lights were sold nationwide between July 2018 and September 2019 through baby boutiques, gift shops, and children's stores—including retailers such as MoMA and Albee Baby in New York City, Aldea Home in San Francisco, the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, and Tabletop in Potomac, Maryland. The lights retailed for about $100. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lights and visit https://www.mrmaria.com/bluemodule to determine which LED module is affected. Consumers who purchased the light at a local retailer should bring it to the store for a free module replacement. Those who purchased online or whose retailer is no longer in business should photograph the blue label on the bottom and the date embossed under the right foot, then email both photos along with their shipping address and phone number to [email protected] to receive an upgraded LED module at no cost.

For more information, consumers can contact Mr. Maria toll-free at 855-890-4105 (Monday–Friday, 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET), by email at [email protected], or online at https://www.mrmaria.com/bluemodule or https://www.mrmaria.com.
