The recall involves approximately 162,300 units sold at retailers including Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Meijer, and BJ's Wholesale Club, as well as online at Amazon.com and morfboard.com, from February 2018 through August 2020 for about $100. The scooters were manufactured in China and are available in cyan, chartreuse, lava, and mint colors. Only scooters with specific 8-character alphanumeric manufacturing date codes listed in the official notice are included in this recall.
The "Y" handlebar joint on these scooters can break, which poses a fall hazard. The company has received 18 reports of the handlebars breaking, resulting in one injury where a child fell and sustained a bloody nose.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled scooters away from children and contact Jakks Pacific to receive a free replacement "T" handlebar.
