The recall involves Model 1150ILP with serial numbers ranging from 20001 through 20365 and Model 1150JLP with serial numbers ranging from 20366 through 21502. These fireplaces were sold between July 2014 and March 2020 for between $3,700 and $5,500, excluding installation costs, at retailers including Southern Fireplaces & More, Custom Hearth, On Fire, Abercrombie & Co., and Southern Hearth & Patio stores.

The recall is due to a hazard where pilot degradation can cause delayed ignition, allowing gas to accumulate in the fireplace. When ignition eventually occurs, the resulting pressure can shatter the glass window, creating burn and laceration hazards. Miles Industries has received one report of delayed ignition in the United States, but no injuries have been reported. Additionally, about 1,050 units were sold in Canada, and the product was previously recalled in December 2018.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled fireplaces and contact their Valor fireplace retailer or contractor to schedule a free repair.
