The recall involves approximately 275 units of these products, which are packaged in amber glass bottles with black continuous thread closures. The products contain methyl salicylate, a substance that requires child-resistant packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). However, the current packaging is not child-resistant, creating a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.

The affected products were sold online at Anandaessentialoils.com from July 2019 through February 2020. The specific lot numbers for the recalled items are listed on the top left corner of the product labels. No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.

Consumers should immediately store the product in a safe location out of reach of children. Ananda Apothecary is notifying known purchasers directly and will provide a full refund for the sample size (0.5 mL) or send a free replacement child-resistant closure for all other sizes.
