Fanim Recalls Harbor Breeze Santa Ana Ceiling Fans Due to Blade Ejection Hazard

Fanim Industries is recalling Harbor Breeze Santa Ana ceiling fans because blade holders can break, allowing blades to eject and injure consumers.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural defect where fan blades can eject, and the source explicitly reports 10 instances of blades hitting consumers, meeting the criteria for significant injury reports.

Plain-English summary

Fanim Industries is recalling approximately 70,000 Harbor Breeze 48-inch Santa Ana Ceiling Fans, model LP8294LBN, due to an injury hazard. The recalled fans have two dark walnut fan blades, brushed nickel blade arm holders, and a frosted white glass globe containing a light bulb. The model number is located on the fan motor and on the inside of the battery compartment cover of the included handheld remote control.

The fan's blade holders can break, allowing the blade to be ejected from the fan. The firm has received 210 reports of the fan blade breaking or ejecting from the fan, including 10 reports of a fan blade hitting consumers.

The recalled fans were sold exclusively at Lowe's stores nationwide and online at www.lowes.com from May 2014 through January 2016 for about $150. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ceiling fan and contact Fanim Industries for a free set of replacement blade holders.
