Hauck Fun For Kids is recalling approximately 26,300 Nerf® Battle Racer go-karts in the United States and about 2,100 in Canada. The recall involves four-wheel pedal-powered go-karts intended for children ages 4 to 10, manufactured between January 2016 and March 2017. The product features a "Nerf" logo on the sides and seat, with black and orange wheels, and model number T91869.
The steering wheel on the recalled go-karts can detach, break, or crack while in use, which poses a laceration and/or collision hazard to young children. Hauck has received 639 reports in the United States of the steering wheel detaching, breaking, or cracking. These incidents resulted in one laceration to a child's face requiring stitches and one minor scrape to a child's chest.
The go-karts were sold at Orsheln Farm, Shopko, Target, Toys R Us, and Wal-Mart stores nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com and Fingerhut.com, between January 2016 and March 2017 for between $200 and $300. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled go-karts and contact Hauck for a new steering wheel.
