ASTI Recalls LectroFan Sound Machine Power Adapters Due to Shock Hazard

ASTI is recalling power adapters sold with LectroFan sound machines because the casing can break, exposing metal prongs and posing an electrical shock hazard.

What this means for you

Plain-English summary

Adaptive Sound Technologies Inc. (ASTI) is recalling power adapters sold with LectroFan sound machines. The recall involves about 35,000 units sold exclusively at Amazon.com from November 2016 through February 2017 for about $50. The adapters have "ASTI AC Adapter" and model number XHY050050UCC printed on the side. The associated LectroFan machines are black or white with matching adapters and have serial numbers between 3 551615 528640 and 3 551615 618639 or between 3 551636 000010 and 3 551636 285179.

The recall is due to a shock hazard. The casing on the power adapter can break when plugged into an electrical outlet, exposing its metal prongs. ASTI has received three reports of power adapters breaking or pulling apart, but no injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the LectroFan and disconnect the power adapter. They should contact ASTI to receive a free replacement power adapter. Consumers can continue to use the sound machine with the USB cable supplied with the LectroFan by plugging it into a computer's USB port or into another power adapter. ASTI is contacting all purchasers of the recalled product directly.
