L'echarpe Porte-bonheur Inc. is recalling about 130 Chimparoo brand Trek baby carriers sold in the United States. The recall involves 100% twill fabric carriers that allow users to carry a baby tummy to tummy, on the hip, or on the back. The carriers attach to the wearer with adjustable straps made of polypropylene webbing and plastic buckles. "Chimparoo" is printed on the upper right hand corner, and "Trek" is embroidered on the belt.

The recall is due to a fall hazard. The carriers' side strap can loosen unexpectedly from the buckle, which poses a risk of the child falling. The firm has received one report of a strap loosening unexpectedly from the carrier's side buckle, but no injuries have been reported.

The carriers were sold in 18 solid, striped, and pattern color combinations from May 2016 through July 2016 for about $170. They were sold at children's boutique stores such as Granola Babies in Costa Mesa, Calif., Eat/Sleep/Play in Summerville, S.C., and Top to Bottom in Omaha, Neb., as well as online at Amazon.com and Chimparoo.ca. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled baby carriers and contact Chimparoo for a free replacement buckle.
