The recall is due to a manufacturing defect where the ground wire and probe wires could be incorrectly assembled, posing fire and explosion hazards. No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with the use of these units.

The units were sold through wholesale plumbing product distributors to plumbing suppliers from July 2014 through August 2014 for between $80 and $125. Consumers should contact Fluid Handling/Xylem for a free inspection, repair, or free installation of a replacement unit. The firm is also contacting purchasers directly.
