Plain-English summary
Fu San Machinery Co. Ltd. of Taiwan is recalling approximately 163,000 low lead ball valves and shut-off gas valves. These brass valves, which are ¾ inch and 1 inch in size, were installed in flammable gas piping systems in commercial or residential settings. The valves were sold under seven brand names, including Aqualine, AY McDonald, FNW, Hodes Co., Legend, Leonard Valve, and Mueller, between April 2011 and January 2012 for between $13 and $20.
The recall is due to a hazard where the valves can crack, causing gas to leak. This leak poses fire and explosion hazards. No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers should immediately turn off the gas supply until a replacement gas valve is professionally installed. To receive compensation of $300 for removal, return, and replacement costs, consumers should contact Danville Sales. The affected valve must be returned with a photo showing the valve in the gas line before removal and the date code on the valve, along with the installation address and consumer details.
