Infinitoy Recalls Softimals Toy Sets Due to Choking Hazard

Infinitoy is recalling Softimals toy sets because removable plastic hats pose a choking hazard for young children.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a choking hazard for young children with one reported incident of gagging/choke, but no injuries have been reported, fitting the High severity criteria for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.

Plain-English summary

Infinitoy, Inc. is recalling the Super Safari Set (model #30025) and the Deluxe Circus Train Set (model #30040). These building toy playsets were sold at specialty toy stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com and Mindware.com from September 2012 to September 2013 for approximately $25 and $40. The sets feature plastic figures, including drivers named Safari Sam and Mighty Mike, which have removable blue or yellow plastic hats.

The recall is being issued because the plastic hats pose a choking and aspiration hazard for children. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is aware of one incident in which an 18-month-old child placed a hat in their mouth and began to gag or choke, though the toy was removed and no injuries were reported.

Consumers should immediately remove the plastic hats from the Safari Sam and Mighty Mike figures. They should then contact Infinitoy, Inc. toll-free at (888) 558-0933 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit www.infinitoy.com and click on Safety/Recall to exchange the hat for a free replacement figure.
