Gerber Legendary Blades is recalling approximately 2,900 Uppercut Fixed Blade Knife and Sheath Sets. The recall is due to a defect where the sheath does not hold the knife securely, allowing the blade to come out unexpectedly and posing a laceration hazard.
The affected products include a black nylon sheath with a Gerber sword and shield logo and a T-handled knife with a 2-inch double-edged blade. The sets were sold in sporting goods stores nationwide and online at gerbergear.com from March 2013 through June 2013 for about $60. Model numbers 30-000650 and 31-001727 are printed on the packaging.
Gerber has received one report of a laceration that required medical attention but no stitches. Consumers should immediately cover and store the knife in a safe area out of the reach of children. They should contact Gerber Legendary Blades for instructions on returning the sheath for a free replacement.
