Gerbings Recalls 12-Volt Heated Jacket Liners Due to Burn Hazard
Gerbings is recalling about 9,900 12-volt heated jacket liners sold at Harley-Davidson dealerships and other stores because a defective wire connector can cause overheating and minor burns.

Plain-English summary
Gerbings, LLC is recalling about 9,900 12-volt heated jacket liners. The recall involves Gerbings and Harley-Davidson® black nylon heated jacket liners that heat up when plugged into a vehicle, such as a motorcycle or snowmobile. The jackets have model number JKLN and PO# 3796 (Gerbings) or model number 98324-09VM and GM32873, GM32874, GM34188, GM34189, GM34190 or GM34191 (Harley-Davidson®). The model number, PO number, and "Use only 12 Volts" are printed on a label sewn inside next to the front zipper.
The jacket liners are being recalled because a defective wire connector can cause the liner to overheat, posing a burn hazard to consumers. Gerbings has received two reports of the jacket liners overheating, causing minor dime-sized burns to consumers' backs, resulting in blisters.
The jacket liners were sold at Harley-Davidson® dealerships, Eagle Leather, and other sporting goods, retail stores, and motorcycle shops nationwide from April 2011 through December 2012 for between $200 and $240. Consumers should immediately stop using the jacket liners and contact Gerbings, LLC for a free repair or replacement liner.
