The Trend Lab name is on a label on the bottom of the chair with date codes ranging from TL1007C to TL0812C, indicating production from October 2007 to August 2012. Matching ottomans sold with the chairs are not part of the recall, and new chairs stamped with "Remedy 2012" are not subject to the recall.

The recall is due to a hazard where staples in the binding on the back of the chair may come loose. If swallowed, these loose staples pose a laceration or choking hazard to children. The company has not reported any injuries associated with this defect.
