The plastic step stools, which feature a carrying handle and style numbers 3575 (9-inch) or 3576 (13-inch), can break or collapse unexpectedly when in use. This defect poses a fall hazard to consumers.

The company is aware of at least 15 reports of incidents involving the step stools cracking or breaking. These incidents include three reports of consumer injuries, consisting of two back injuries and one fractured leg. The stools were sold in various colors at retailers including HomeGoods, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx from January 2010 through January 2012 for between $8 and $12.
