The recalled units are rectangular, measuring about 2-3/16 inches high, 3-1/2 inches wide, and 1-1/4 inches deep, with white or nickel-colored plastic front housings and gray plastic backs bearing the "SY" identification code.

The recall is due to a potential electrical short circuit that can cause the night lights to overheat, smolder, melt, or char. AmerTac has received 25 reports of the night lights smoking, burning, melting, or charring. No injuries have been reported in connection with these incidents.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled night lights and remove them from wall sockets.
