The recall is prompted by a hazard where the furnace can overheat, causing the heat-exchanger to crack. These cracks create openings that expose flames to drywall and other nearby combustibles, posing a fire and smoke hazard. The firm has received reports of 393 incidents, including some involving extensive property damage, with 366 of those reports received after the initial November 2004 recall announcement. No injuries have been reported.
