The recall is due to inadequate gluing that allows the insulation surrounding the heat exchanger to separate from the cabinet wall and fall onto the heat exchanger. This condition can cause surrounding combustible material and drywall to catch fire, posing a risk of burn injuries and deaths. York International and the CPSC are aware of 11 incidents involving this furnace, including five fires that caused $74,000 in property damage.
