Lamplight Farms Inc. is recalling approximately 217,000 bottles and jugs of TIKI® Brand Gel Fuel and TIKI® Brand Citronella Gel Fuel. The recalled products are one-quart plastic bottles containing pourable gel fuel, sold with or without citronella. The fuel is intended to be poured into a stainless steel cup in the center of ceramic fire pots.
The recall is due to burn and flash fire hazards. The pourable gel fuel can ignite unexpectedly and splatter onto people and nearby objects if poured into a fire pot that is still burning. This hazard can occur if the consumer does not see the flame or is unaware that the fire pot is still ignited. Lamplight Farms has received one report of an incident where a consumer poured gel fuel on a burning fire pot, resulting in burns to a bystander's arm that required medical treatment.
The products were sold in retail stores nationwide and online from December 2010 through September 2011 for about $10. Consumers should immediately stop using the pourable gel fuel in fire pots.
