Lamplight Farms Recalls Tiki Bamboo Torches and Fuel Canisters

Lamplight Farms Inc. is recalling approximately 963,000 Tiki® Bamboo Torches and 18,000 replacement fuel canisters. The hazard exists because the surface coating on some flame guards can absorb fuel and ignite, causing the torch and nearby combustibles to catch fire.

The company has received 33 reports of torches catching on fire, including six reports of minor injuries and nine reports of minor property damage. These products were sold at Wal-Mart, The Home Depot, Lowe's, and other home and hardware stores nationwide from December 2004 through July 2005 for between $5 and $6. Replacement canisters were sold for about $1.40.

Consumers should immediately stop using these torches and contact Lamplight Farms to determine if their units are included in the recall. Affected consumers will receive free replacement flame guards. Recalled units can be identified by the UPC numbers 086861010372 (Beachcomber), 086861013335 (Seagrass), 086861010457 (Sandpiper), and 076354995262 (Replacement Canister), which are written on the packaging or attached tag.
