Plain-English summary
Pottery Barn Kids, a division of Williams-Sonoma Inc., is recalling approximately 81,000 Chloe, Sophie, and Audrey soft dolls sold in the United States and 1,300 in Canada. The dolls, which measure about 17 inches high and feature yarn hair, were sold in Pottery Barn Kids stores, online, and via catalogs from July 2006 to April 2011 for about $40 each.
The recall is due to a strangulation hazard. The hair on the Chloe and Sophie dolls may contain loops large enough to fit around a child's head and neck. Additionally, the headband on the Audrey doll can form a similar loop if loosened. The company has received five reports of dolls with looped hair, including one instance where a loop of Chloe's hair was found around the neck of a 21-month-old child; the child was not injured.
Consumers should immediately take the dolls away from children. To eliminate the hazard, consumers should cut the looped hair on the Chloe and Sophie dolls and remove the headband from the Audrey doll. Consumers may also contact Pottery Barn Kids for instructions on returning the dolls for a merchandise credit.
