Plain-English summary

Atico International USA Inc. is recalling holiday rattle baby slippers due to a choking hazard. The slippers are decorated with stuffed fabric figures, including snowmen, Santa, reindeer, and penguins, and contain decorative rattles inside that sound like bells when shaken. The internal stuffing and rattle inside the decorative figures can be pulled out, posing a choking hazard to young children.

The recalled slippers were sold exclusively at Walgreens stores nationwide from October 2010 through January 2011 for about $5. Approximately 57,000 units were sold. Item number 999526 is printed on the back of the cardboard header card packaging, and "Find Your Joy" is printed on the front of the slippers packaging.

Atico received one report of a 7-month-old baby found beginning to turn blue with the slippers' stuffing in its mouth; the baby's father removed the stuffing. Two additional reports were received of babies wearing the slippers who pulled on the rattle/stuffing, causing the stuffing to come out. No injuries were reported.

Because the firm is out of business, the remedy is no longer available. Consumers should discard or destroy the product.
