Plain-English summary
Robert Bosch Tool Corporation is recalling approximately 20,000 Bosch 1/2 inch 2-Speed Hammer Drills. The affected models include the HD19-2, HD19-2D, HD19-2L, and HD 21-2. These drills were sold at home improvement, hardware, and major retailers nationwide, as well as through various distributors, from September 2009 through August 2010 for between about $140 and $220.
The recall is due to a defect in the grounding system and trigger switch. This issue could cause ground wire abrasion or ground connector failure, posing an electrical shock hazard. Additionally, the switch trigger could become stuck in the "on" position, posing an injury hazard to the user. The company has not reported any injuries associated with this defect.
