The affected drills were sold nationwide at home improvement retailers from late December 2001 through January 2002 for about $50. The model number HD501K may appear on the packaging. "RYOBI" and the model number appear on the side of the drill. The drills were manufactured in China.
CPSC and Ryobi Technologies have not received any reports of injuries or incidents involving these hammer drills. The recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. Consumers should stop using the hammer drills immediately and return them to the place where purchased to receive a full refund.
