Plain-English summary
Restoration Hardware Baby & Child is recalling approximately 4,600 units of Roman Shades with Black-out Lining. These shades were sold exclusively by Restoration Hardware Baby & Child stores, via catalog, and on the company's website from June 2008 through August 2009 for between about $110 and $250. The recalled shades measure 23, 32, 36, and 48 inches wide by 64 inches long and feature a label on the left lower corner of the back stating "baby & child Restoration Hardware" and "Made in China."
The recall was issued because a strangulation hazard exists when a child places their neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the blind, or when a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around their neck. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers should immediately stop using these Roman shades and contact Restoration Hardware Baby & Child to receive a free repair kit. All known purchasers have been contacted by the firm, and the repair kit will be available within six weeks.
