Toro Recalls Zero-Turn Mowers Due to Coolant Burn Hazard

The recall covers specific models, including the Z580, Z580-D, Z593-D, and Z595-D, which are equipped with fuel-injected, liquid-cooled Kawasaki gasoline or liquid-cooled Kubota diesel engines. These mowers were sold at Toro dealers nationwide from October 2005 through August 2009 for between $13,000 and $17,000.

The recall is due to a burn hazard. The coolant overflow container on the recalled mowers can become over-pressurized, causing hot coolant to spray on the operator. The manufacturer has received six reports of burns to operators resulting from this issue.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers. To identify if a mower is affected, check the model and serial number on the decal located on a metal plate on the right-hand side of the mower. Affected model and serial number ranges include: Model 74264 (Serial 260000001-260999999), Model 74265 (Serial 260000001-260999999), Model 74266 (Serial 270000001-290999999), Model 74267 (Serial 270000001-290999999), Model 74274 (Serial 270000001-290999999), Model 74253 (Serial 270000001-290999999), and Model 74254 (Serial 270000001-290999999).
