The recall involves approximately 115,000 units of the MVP-5100, MVP-5150, and MVP-5200i models. These touch panels, which function as remote controls for residential or commercial audio/visual systems, were sold by AMX dealers nationwide from May 2008 through October 2009 for between $2,400 and $4,200.

A defect in the battery can cause the battery pack to overheat and rupture. This poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has not reported any injuries associated with this recall.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected touch panels and contact AMX for instructions on how to receive a replacement battery at no cost.
