The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling approximately 25,800 ionic salt lamps manufactured by Fashion Stitches & More, Inc. The lamps, which vary in color from light to dark red and are attached to a wood base, were sold through LTD Commodities, ABC Distributing, and Lakeside Collection catalogs and websites from March 2009 through May 2009 for about $12. The lamp fixture includes a 10-watt bulb and a black cord with an inline on/off switch.
The recall is due to a fire hazard. The lamps can overheat, causing the vinyl coating on the cord to burst and melt. The company has received eight reports of overheating, including two reports of hand burns.
Consumers should immediately stop using the product. All consumers who purchased the lamps were notified directly about the recall. To receive a replacement cord set, consumers should contact LTD Commodities, ABC Distributing, or Lakeside Collection.
